Bronze Hardware

Fittings designed without compromise for traditional small craft.

We designed these fitting for our own boats decades ago when we could no longer find hardware of the quality required.

These links will be activated once we receive the next shipment from the foundry–shouldn't take long

Oarlocks & Sockets

Our standard oarlocks are sand cast silicon bronze. They are 2" capacity, bored for a lanyuard, and the oar seats are polished. The outside of the casting is smoothed but not polished. The accompanying oarlock sockets feature an oval plate and are bored to be fastened with #10 flat- or oval headed screws. The sockets are polished as shown here.

Standing Oarlock Horns

Though this image is way out of proportion to the standard oarlock horns just above, the two foot rule in the center of the photo attests to their actual dimensions. These are also 2" capacity, have 3/4" diameter shafts, and bury about 6". Like the standard horns, the ones we offer these days are not polished overall, but rather have the oar seats polished and lanyard holed bored. If you would care to polish them yourself we'll gladly tell you how to do it. Click here to see how to install them.

Rudder Fittings

The two fittings top left are rudder gudgeons, sized to fit a 3/4" (18mm) rudder body and bored for 10 gauge rivets. The third from the top is a transom gudgeon, bored for #10 screws. And the bottom most fitting is a sternpost gudgeon, also bored for #10 screws. The large holes are to accommodate a 5/16" bronze rod which connects the rudder to the hull, acting like a hinge pin. udders hung this way don't unship, though they can rise should you strike bottom, but will then drop back down into position. Shown is a typical set of fittings for a wherry or any boat where a narrow lower fitting is needed.
